Voodoo 9 (my new venture)

I'm gonna start doing after hours freelance design. My name so far is Voodoo 9 design. (the nine being 'if six was nine'). That's the best i could come up with... apart from 'hendrix freak design'! :D (freak design's already taken btw)

i'm doing it on the sly at work... so can i ask you guys for some feedback about the name/design.

Instant reaction... the '6/9' part of the logo is confusing on the eye, and makes it look like "Voodoo 69", and repeating the 9 in 'design' looks weird and kind-of cheesy.

Nothing but honesty here Al! Hope you don't mind... :)

I like the idea overall though. The name's not bad... probably won't mean anything to non-Hendrix freaks, but there's nothing wrong with that - there are plenty of successful companies with odd/obscure/downright-strange names!

Al,

I suggest keeping the "9" from the first pic and using it again in the "g" of "design". Keeping the same theme with the 9 and the g in design. Try making the top part of 9 and g the same as the lettering of Voodoo and the tail of 9. Did that make sense??!!

Like Les said...its more "artistic.

Overall, I like the look.

My reaction is that the repeating 9 looks redundant (I guess by definition it has to be :) ) I would only do it once. Then again, it worked for Coca-Cola.

What if you drop the design part and just go by Voodoo 9? Or make "Design" vertical using the one 9 for both words.

My Dad is a retired graphics artist that has won 2 national awards. My brother is also in graphic arts. I can solicit their opinions if you like, Al.

I like this one best.

If you drop the 9 slightly and maybe space the i9n a little more.
I'm not telling you how to suck eggs but that's the first thing that hit me.

The Voodoo 9 is perfect.

my pricing is gonna be roughly £30($56) per hour. A logo would be a flat fee of £100 ($188) with no charge for reworking(unless a complete change of brief.

do these prices sound reasonable for the UK and US?

at my current workplace an hour of artwork is £59!! :eek:

i should have it ready to roll with a fortnight. (there'll be some examples of logos and other designs etc)
