what do you guys use for recording in os x?

i've been using cubase vst (which i bought it 6 months before upgrading to 10.1) having to restart in os 9 does my head in. I'm now on panther, so i'm wondering what you folks use. I'd be recording guitar through pod - although i'm gonna invest in a SM57 mike.

don't need it be state of the art with features - just need it to record audio well (midi too)

anyone use any free apps that are available until i've paid off my strat?

should i upgrade to cubase sx, or go down the pro tools route. had a look at garageband for £39, but it seamingly needs a dvd drive to work. :(

i'm on a classic indigo iMac btw.

Hi Al,
I'm off work today so I'll burn you Pro Tools LE for Panther, you won't need anything else, it's great.
An SM57 is a great addition, that's what I used for my harp and vocals. I'm gonna try it with the amp too instead of the POD and see what it turns out like :D
You can use midi with PT too, although I've never understood it so I don't use it ????

I use OSX only now, binned all my OS9 applications like Poser and Bryce etc as I just ain't got the time for them, totally stripped my machine down and it great just using OSX :D

definetly wanna go down the miking up the amp route. the pod makes my strat sound the same as the cu24. :(

Ainsley can you get a stand alone Pro Tools LE version for Macs?

I have the Digi 002 now on windows XP and was going to give my mate Tom the mac version but we suspected that you need to use it with and M-box or other Digidesign product.

Do you have a stand alone version that he could use with his motu firewire interface?

If you do I would be grateful of a copy if you can do me one.

I'm not sure if mine's a stand alone version or not Gary, I'll look into it and send you one if it is :D
