I'm so stoked! Scored a Matchless SC-30 on eBay today...

Been about 4-5 years since I sold my previous one. It had been my workhorse for about 4 years, then Matchless went out of business, the prices skyrocketed and I sold because "no amp's worth $2500". I've been blessed with fantastic ampage since, but always longing for 'the one'.
The seller, hamrhed1 (Jeff) is a first class guy. I spoke to him on the phone after the auction and he's in to PRS and other 'killer' gear. I'm hoping he'll show up here.
Almost forgot, it's the SC-30 that's on the Matchless website. The most looked at SC-30 of modern era Matchless! :D

Very Nice! Congrats!

You'll have to post some clips of it in action!

Very Nice, congrats! I have an Old Matchless Lightning 15 with reverb that I use as my practice amp!

I've always LOVED the SC30 tones! Nice score! Play and enjoy!:D

Congrats again, Tom!
Man...I dont know how long I looked at that green SC30 you had before...but I still have the pix, and I occasionally use it for wallpaper! That amp was it for me. I finally scored a '92 Gray beauty...which I recently traded for another great amp. I miss the SC30 already...what a great amp.
Keep this one! :p

Did I say 'great amp' enough? Man...I need coffee.
:D

Anyway...the SC30 is a great amp!

Congrats of the highest order. The C series from Matchless are indeed one of the alltime greats in the amp world.

Thanks for the kind words. Today I'm eagerly awaiting the tracking number, let alone the amp. :)

I run a Jackson Soloist Pro into a Matchless hot box into the Matchless SC-30, and input #1 on either Ch 1 or Ch 2 (depending on the set list). I've done this for maybe ten years. Mark Sampson had some misgivings about this arrangement but it yields certain benefits. In this manner it is not necessary to use the master volume. This allows the Matchless pure tone when the box is off. Sustain is controlled by tilting the Jackson toward the amp, which sounds awkward but really is a much better way once you've had a little practice.
I started playing with Roy Buchanan when he was with The Temptations and we played together off and on for two years. The knowledge of amplification and harmonics I picked up from Roy was invaluable. I've used his rigs (initially on The Peppermint Cane) but it was best suited for Roy.
