I was tooling around on the Mesa Boogie website...looks like they're rolling out the new Stilleto. For those that didn't catch the NAMM spot, it is an EL-34 based amp which comes in two models...I'd be very interested in hearing what it sounds like. Has anyone had the opportunity to hear it yet?

Check it out:

Hey Dan,

Just let me know if you want to make that trip!!! FYI, I heard through a reliable source that the HOG may be discontuing their Mesa relationship. It sort of made sense to me as the last time I was there (about a week ago), I was checking out a Lonestar (AWESOME amp) and the salesman was pretty much trying to talk me out of it. I wasn't really planning on buying it, but that seemed kind of weird. From what I hear, Mesa is looking for other retailers in the area to carry their stuff besides GC.

FWIW, the GC guitar staff is actually pretty good here. If anyone is ever in the area, let me know and I'll tell you who to deal with.

hey thanks! i'll be sure to let you know!

Andy at HOG always treats me well...and has given me some great discounts! (i just had to buy a Cu22 and a triple-rec).

The GC staff has always been nice to me as well...i forget the guys name i delt with last time...he had long blonde hair, and a small beard, or somethign of the sorts!

I'll let u know what's up for the next rochester trip, i'll have to check my calendar, and i'll let u kno!

It seems that Mesa is pissing off dealers... WMC dropped their Mesa dealership last year, and it didn't seem to be on the greatest of terms.

I still like Mesa Boogies, glad I'm not a dealer :)

well, the problems with Mesa is they make the dealers pay full retail for the amp up front, then when they're sold, they get a small percentage of profit back.

Good points...I've also heard that they require dealers to carry a pretty broad line of their products, which is why the guy I got this info from dropped their line about 1 1/2 years ago.

Dan O, I've dealt with Andy and Curt over at the HOG and get treated very well, too. As for GC, I forget the guy's name you described, but he is very good. D-Rob (MONSTER bass player) is a really good guy...very knowledgeable as is Jay and Chris. Dealing with any of them will be safe and painless.

Adam Groom is the guy i'm thinking about (i'm surprised i remembered that!)

I think they're all good there!

All I need is somebody to say "this amp is the perfect compliment to the Recto," and I'm done for. So if anybody says it, you're going to get an internet *****-slappin'. :)

actually, that's what Mesa says on their site. Say it's been voiced to complement the Recto in a two guitar band setup.

Blame them, not me. :)

I have decided that it would look infinitely cool to have both my Dual Recto and the Stilletto Duece sitting atop my armor-plated Recto 4x12. Enough chrome there to outfit a tank.
