Haven't had it yet, but it will be a sunday roast.

The internet can be a place full of scammers and cheats and this can lead us to suspect everybody. Ebay being a typical example. The anonimity of the internet gives some a smoke screen to hide behind etc. I want to hear your stories of good people and good things / contacts you have found through the internet. Maybe you found your partner through the internet for example.

I have met a lot of good Bammers over here for one. Traded CD's with people from pretty much every country you can think of which is a partnership based entirely on trust and I've never been let down yet. One guy locally bought something off me and he wanted to collect it from my house ..I was like thinking, don't let him in etc ..but when he turned up, he was a really nice bloke and a fellow football fan of the same team. I have been fishing with people from a fishing board I'm on occasionally, and we have had some great times fishing at weekends. Then there's the stuff you can buy on the boards which has gone really well for me too.

Think it's going to be a roast for me as well. Missus is trying to cook one-handed at the moment.

I would agree with the point that the internet, despite the scumbags around, is a good place to meet people.

I've met, in person, numerous UK people, including your good self Darren, that I would never have met without forums like this. I've even met some wonderful 'wierd' people in the US during my sojourn to their lands last April.

Outside of the forum world I've also managed to get in touch with old school friends through Friends Re-united. Quite a challenge considering my schooldays were centuries ago. :)

I've been lucky on eBay, so far, based on my policy of trying to always collect stuff in person, rather than send money and hope for the best.

Yes the internet is a tremendous thing, only slightly spoiled by the scumbags

I've had a couple of late nights either with doing 911 calls on friends computers, or doing concerts. I'm just barely getting out of bed, let alone thinking about lunch.

I've had the extreme pleasure of meeting a lot of people from this forum in person. I've traded CD's with members, received and given gifts with them, jammed with them, gone to concerts with them, done internet collaborations with them, had dinner with them, had conversations over the phone from accross the country with them, bought and sold equipment with them, poured my heart out with them, prayed about major disasters and family setbacks with them and so much else. I've even had few offer to come and help build my studio. Heck, I think I even somehow or another managed to buy John Reardon a brewski from the other side of the country.

With a very few exceptions, and I mean very few - this place is absolutely everything good about the internet.

A friend of ours recently got involved, via the Internet, in helping a family that was affected by Hurricane Katrina. We donated a boatload of baby clothes, toys, and other baby stuff. Yesterday we received a heartfelt thank you card from the family, which was very sweet and unexpected.

While the act of giving was thanks enough, the card did something else...it brought us closer to this family somehow. Seeing their handwritten words on the card made us realize the impact our simple gesture made in their lives.

...
Robin, remember it well. I was in Dana's car on the way to Apehangars. Next time it will have to be face to face, and I will buy the drinks.

Noidea. Too earlu here to know about lunch.

I've met some great friends, and managed to stay in contact with others long past.

Personally haven't run into any really "BAD" things. Course I don't purchase much ebay items.

Aside from the odd pissing contest I get myself into, it's all good for me. :)

Mike,
Re: the odd pissing contest. Remember, the internet is somewhat like a large pail. We are merely a beer bottle sized opening on the Forum. (I've discovered it's very difficult to pee into a beer bottle without getting myself wet.) :D
