I can enjoy listening to everything they've done till St. Anger. I didn't care when they cut their hair, and even though it's not my thing I didn't care when Kirk started wearing makeup. I LOVE the S&M disk (Live with the orchestra). Today I heard another song off St. Anger and it makes me cringe. I thought maybe eventually I'd grow to like it, but it's not going to happen. Am I the only one?

St. Anger is the biggest piece of crap I've heard in a long time! I couldn't even listen to the entire CD. Simply terrible:eek:

No. I got the CD cause it was cheap and came with a DVD. You get what you pay for...

The DVD was actually better than the CD!

The only song off that cd that gets any play time around here is Frantic. Don't know why, but I really like that song. For the most part, I can't say the same about the rest of the disc. St. Anger is probably the worst metal single ever released, as well.

I really had a hard time digesting it...I don't believe for a second that Bob Rock could turn that master over for duplication and hold a straight face.

I a big Metallica fan but when I first heard St. Anger for the first time I almost cried, I felt cheated! We had waited so long for this album which was majorly hyped on the website and it turned out to be a total pile of pap. I just can't understand how they could allow it to be released! I'd say it wasn't even good enough to be a demo! The drum sounds are so bad I actually get angry!!

On the plus side the DVD was good and the songs seemed to make a little more sense live. It was interesting though when I saw them in the UK shortly after the release. They played a fantastic greatest hits set and only 2 songs from the new album. To me it almost felt like they were saying 'sorry'.

Let's just hope that things improve for the next release..

They lost me after "Load". I guess I don't "get them" any more :( I especially do not like "St. Anger".

I actually bought the CD - why? cuz I trusted a music review in some mag that I never read and they said it was the best since Justice - bought it sight (and sound) unseen. The worst piece of crap I have ever heard (other than a couple of my band recordings) :)

What was I thinking? mental lapse and a half...

is this a joke?

i've only heard what's been on the radio, but that was enough for me. i miss the MOP/AJFA days.

yeah man, i love Metallica, but i can't stand any of their stuff after the black album. everything up to and including that rocks and i listen to it constantly. after that, i have Reload and i haven't even bothered buying an of their others. i haven't heard the newest cd, but the song "St. Anger" sucks ass!!

Although I enjoyed parts of S&M, they pretty much lost my interest after Reload...

In my opinion, their music peaked with the black album, and has slowly gone back down hill. Load was OK, Reload was so-so, and the rest I'm totally uninterested in. I can still listen to any of their old stuff without getting sick of it.

I like only their first three records: Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets.

The new album is a complete joke, almost like they didn't feel like trying to write "real" music. I haven't been impressed with Hetfield's vocals for a long time, either.

Don't know what happened to that band. :( Up through AJFA, they seemed superhuman. I still am awestruck by the mix of savagery and control their first four albums represented. One of my fondest concert memories is of seeing them at Monsters of Rock. But after the Black Album they just turned into kind of an average rock band... S&M had moments of brilliance on it (they can still play), but their writing anymore? Bleah. St. Anger might have seemed like a good idea, but the execution was, well, really bad!

I'm a big Metallica fan, so I like it. It is definitley NOT my favorite cd by them, in fact, I still have yet to buy it. I like Frantic and St. Anger, and a few others [i can't remember the names, I haven't listened to it in a while.] My friend owns Garage Inc [which i love] and ReLoad [which HE loves, I'd rather not listen to it.]

While St. Anger is nowhere near their best stuff, if some nu-metal band were to put this same cd out, it would probably sell better than it is.

I don't mind St. Anger one bit. I like the first albums best, but even if its not that great, its still Metallica.

St. Anger made me angry, and that's all I have to say about that.

That is hilarious!! "Back to our roots - these songs are long-a!" "Complex just like Justice! Complex just like Justice!"

The other folks here at work are wondering why I'm laughing out loud..

Well, considering all you need to make that noise is a mic, a snare drum, a guitar and a garbage can, maybe not... :D
