EMG's in a Les Paul?

A buddy of mine is looking to install a set of EMG into a Les Paul. Is there any way to do this without routing for the 9 volt? I didn't know if it was possible to shove it back in the control cavity between the pots.

Yes, you really just have to position the pots so the lugs leave an empty space in the middle of the cavity, then drop the battery right in there with a little foam wrapped around it to hold it in.
