I recently "upgraded" my McCarty Rosewood to gold hardware: a TonePros adjustable bridge/tailpiece, gold PRS strap buttons, and locking Grover Mini tuners. I hate those plastic knob tuners - just my opinion, but I think they're terribly cheesy looking. I wonder if the reason Gibson used them in the 50's was that plastic was cheaper than metal. I

Anyhow, everything works very smoothly, and the guitar really looks sharp. You can see it at the link below.

Looks good! Bummer about the extra holes though. That's one of the reasons I didn't buy a McCarty. I HATE klusens.

Snap, quite impressed with sound of McCarty, but thought the tuners looked cheap and nasty, so opted for a CU24 instead.

I hate how the klusons look too, but hey at least they work well. Shame about those extra holes tho'.

I'd have preferred to have some Phase II's on my McCarty (and Singlecut).

You should have put in nickel studs, so you get the two-tone hardware look that is on the BLE's.

Nice tortie tho'... (I wonder where my Tortoise shell BLE is?)

Did the mini grovers fit right in or did you have drill a wider hole?
Looks good though. You could fill in the holes with wood fillers that match the color.

My tech guys did the installation, and you know, I'm not certain if they had to drill out the holes or not, although I believe that yes, the holes do have to be slightly enlarged. I certainly plan on keeping the guitar for life, so I really didn't care. I do like the Grovers much better.

Oh-oh, I gotta be different on this one, I like the vintage look of the McCarty tuners and think they work great! Just my $.02;).
