Looks like it may be competition for the forthcoming Waves GTR PRS offering.

Too bad we don't have solid delivery dates for either of these.
I just watched the PRS Wave thingy demo a few minutes ago. Not very impressed. Sure, the versatility is cool, and it's nice how the sound stays clean when you roll back your guitar volume, but it just didn't sound very good to me. Not at all, really.
I haven't heard anything yet that sounds better than: good tube amp -> good cab -> good mic -> good mic preamp. I know that comes to a lot more money invested than a straight-to-board modeling system, but I don't think anyone here is a stranger to spending a few $$$ for the sake of tone.

Adam,
I agree 100% with you, but I'm finally interested in some of these Firewire-out or USB-out breakout boxes for home demo recordings. It's the easiest way to go directly into GarageBand, Logic 7, DP, ProTools, or whatever else you're running on your computer. My Boogies will never be replaced. I'm sure most other Bammers feel the same.
L6 is saying Winter Namm. I posted a similar thread in the efx section

I'm quite happy with the BOSS GS10 directly through Garageband. I'd imagine the Line6 and PRS/WAVE boxes are similiar. Then again, I don't record the entire band through it - I use it exclusively for practice and home recording/noodling. The Black Box is another variation I've read good things about, though I have not tried one out.

I am assuming that it will be replacing the Line 6 guitar port. Best money I spent was on the GP. Picked it up used, and use it daily.

I dunno. I was REALLY impressed with the Waves at Summer NAMM. Thought it sounded really good.
Perhaps it's all in the setup, but it certainly seemed very tweakable.

I've heard 2 different demos so far of the new Waves/PRS GTR and one demo it sounded amazing and the other which was sent to me on DVD from Waves was unimpressive tone wise.
It's probably a very useful tool but it seems it will vary from user to user and from setup to setup.
I'd like to try it before i buy it.
