Hey folks,
I'm thinking about getting a cheap drum machine. In fact, I've been thining about it for a while now. I'd like to hear what you guys who use them think of the different models. I'm leaning towards the Zoom models, just because they can be had for so cheap on eBay - Rhythm Tracks 123 or the new MRT something or other...
Hey Dan,
I've got a Zoom 234 which is good. I have to admit I haven't got into programming it very much as I control it throuch midi but the sounds are excellent and varied. It has stereo outputs as well which adds to the realistic feel and the pads are pressure sensitive too.

Alesis SR 16. I have had one for many years. It is very user friendly,
sounds great, and is $150.00 brand new!!
I've had the Boss DR-5 for nearly 10 years now :o - I bought mine when they first came out (in 95?) and it's interesting to note that the price hasn't really gone down in all these years.
The thing that is cool with it, is that it has 4 tracks, one for the drums then you can add 3 instrument sounds, bass, strings, etc for building a song together. Basically it was supposed to be built for a guitarist, as the rows of buttons all represent the frets/strings on a guitar. So to play a chord when using the instrument sounds, you use the same fingering shapes as you would on guitar. You can also plug a guitar into it, and trigger the midi sounds from the notes you play (ie get a bass sound).
I've been wanting to upgrade it for a while now and have looked into various Zoom models, but found the sound of the drums weren't as nice.

I have the Boss dr-670. I like the sound, but I haven't recorded with it yet. Just jammin along, but fairly easy to use.

Depending on what you call cheap... I dig the DR-770 bigtime. I bought it to replace my Alesis HR16 (oooldie, eh?) which I was getting tired of. Sold it on Ebay for about $50. :D
The DR770 on eBay seems to go for about $200 or so from what I can see at a glance just now.
Peace,
Aldwyn
