What are the best tab books, DVDs, VHS, lick books etc. for guitar and bass players wanting to make significant progress (and become ass kickingly good).

It is time to start making up a Christmas shopping list for myself and my daughter.

I'm bought Blues Groove for guitar by Rob Fletcher (Alfred Publishing) and am starting on it today. I plan on improving my rhythm 100 fold with it. Check it out.
