Early lunch because I start early. Microwave macaroni and cheese, Hmmmm (uck).

Deleted previous message as it was political.

I've been trying to sing and play acoustic guitar and I must say, I prefer electric as I am much more expressive. Am I a wimp for not loving acoustic guitar. I have a larrivee so the guitar is not the problem.

No cash, no lunch.

Yes, you're a wimp. So am I. Would you like to see my pressed flower collection?

no lunch yet for me... I'm thinking about running to potbelly's for a nice roast beef sandwich.

I love playing and singing with the acoustic guitar. Probably because I learned guitar on an acoustic and for the past 15 years have played acoustic and sang in church. I just find the acoustic much more expressive from loud all out strumming to light finger plucking to raking muted strings to beating out a rhythm on the side of the guitar.

granted, I did recently switch from mediums to light gauge strings on all my guitars (yes, I'm still a wimp).

Lunch shall be Chicken w/ egg noodles soup. Have to go get my teeth cleaned this afternoon, so I'm keeping it nice and light.

I also prefer playing electric, but I don't think it makes us wimps. I like the wild variety of sounds you can create with different guitars, pedals, etc. Yet there's something simple and pleasing about playing acoustic. I just can't get into it as much.

Sorry about the money and the food, Adam. And the flowers, while we're on the subject.

I had tuna and a diet Dr. Pepper.

I suppose I'm slightly more at home on an acoustic than an electric. But I find electric easier, usually. I play more electric than acoustic these days but that can run in streaks.

Same boat as Adam for lunch. :(

Give the acoustic more time. What sort of stuff are you playing on it? Find some acoustic music that you really enjoy listening to, and work on that. You might find that you suddenly like it.

Maybe lunch will be a tuna sandwich.
I stopped playing acoustic almost entirely a few years ago to concentrate on electric, also promising to not take up any other instrument. I'm easily distracted.
I've always been more comfortable on electric, probably because I never learned any actual technique for acoustic.
For the last week, however, I've started to play again, figuring I needed a few songs so that when someone says "Sing something" I can oblige them and make sure they never ask again.

No tuna for lunch, although I had a few bites of GF's yellowfin tuna for dinner last night. Today's lunch was leftover shrimp w/garlic sauce and rice. Newman's Own limeade as usual.

I have to be practically forced to play acoustic, even though it's what I do best and in the most original (and, for that matter, marketable) manner. At home, it lives in its case and almost never comes out. I don't use the piezo on my HB-S much, either. (sorry, Jo)

Daddyo, why would you even begin to think yourself a wimp for preferring to play electric guitar to acoustic? Play what you wanna play. There are plenty of people who will tell you what you SHOULD and SHOULDN'T play. Don't listen. Well... let me rephrase that: Only listen if you respect their opinion and share it yourself.

Just a sandwich-
I personally feel way more at home on an acoustic. It's what I have the most experience with. But electrics are getting more comfortable for me. I think having my chet atkins SST was a great bridge that helped me transition back and forth between both.

I love acousic, my best guitars are acoustic, it's the most expresive instrument and othe one I get the most fun on the whole from. I really don't know what it is, but when you play an acoustic outside, it just has a sound all of it's own. I played an Ovation to death ...a lot more than anything else I had, yet decided to sell it in the end. That's close to being a mix of both in terms of playability. It's also the choice of Adrian Legg who said that when he was playing electric , his acoustic playing would suffer and conversely, the opposite was true. So for him the Ovation was an instrument that could be played as an acoustic, but was close to an electric also. A HB with P is a lot closer to an electric, but not as good a sounding for out and out acoustic tone.

An electric is great for playing to a crowd of girls, an acoustic is great for playing to just one ..so they tell me.

Grilled chicken roll-up and a couple of Cokes.

And, it's a crying shame we don't hear more about you either man!

+1 on your next point to Daddyo too!!

I personally love to play both electric and acoustic, 6 and 12-stringers. If I can get my hands on another type of stringed instrument, even better. Ukes, mandolins, and violins come to mind. I love to torture myself and others with as many musical instruments as possible!

I started on classical guitar and play fingerpicked songs of all types but I love the ease of playing and the chord voicings of an electric. I'm trying to learn jazz and I love the tone of an electric guitar.

Veggie Burrito (burp)

I am much more at home on electric, but do enjoy acoustic, too!

I'm guessing the first topic was way more interesting! :D
