Potato bread with ham. Nothing warm, itīs too much of that outside already.

Okay, Letīs talk about warm temperatures and work.
What do you do when you have to work 8 hours sitting in an office with big windows where the sun shines into for the rest of the day after letīs say 11 oīclock ?
Alright, I know most US-offices have air condition, but those few of you who donīt what do you do, especially if you get a stiff neck and burning eyes from the use of a ventilator ?
I think this summer I will try the water-dish method: Put a big dish of cold water under my desk and put my feet into....

Couple of beef burgers and a glass of squash for me. I don't work too much from large offices and even when I have, I've been lucky not to have large glass windows.

However, it's just as bad when working from home. I'm sat here in a small room, that doubles as my music room, with my window open and blinds drawn. I just have shorts, a top and sandals (no socks;) ) on. It's boiling, no air conditioning in most of our homes. Don't need it for our normal British weather.

I just sit and suffer it, don't try any particular methods.

Sausage sarnies and some pasta and sweetcorn leftovers.

It's boiling, but add to that 40 moulding machines with barrels at 240 degrees, hydraulic pumps etc and you have a wonderful atmosphere. The office is aircon'ed and it's like any excuse to get back to it - hence I'm here now. My last job had a much bigger version of the machines we have here, but with a paintshop oven about 150 meters long to keep things cooking nicely. Could be worse, I could work in a foundry. It's ok in the winter. had to drag myself away from Tiger Tim winning at Wimbledon at last look - went home for lunch. What a lovely day it is today over here.

Ham sandwich, some nuts and a geobar:

Stunning day today, after my standby finished I walked into town via Thompson Park and Bute Park, lovely. AC is the only way to go, sadly the climate control in my vorsprung durk technik stopped working last week, so it's a bit of a 'mare right now.

In the days whe I worked in an office I used to run cold water over my wrists every hour and so, seemed to work in South Wales, don't think it would work too well in Arizona though.

(oh and on the walk back, picked up some chillis, peppers, new potatoes, prawns and choritzo. Tapas outside tonight.

Turkey and cheese sandwich, Herr's potato chips, BOYLAN'S root beer(!!).

I can't stand the heat and I've left the kitchen.

My office has air-conditioning, always has. One day last year it broke (it breaks every year) and it got up to 92 in the office. I went home. Privilege of rank, let them eat cake.

My brain is like a fine computer. It needs to be kept between 60 and 70 degrees fahrenheit at all times.

My work is air-conditioned. My previous job was in a factory that was not. In the heat of summer, it was not uncommon for the temperature to get to 100+ in the plant. That sucked. They finally air-conditioned that place a couple of years ago. The compressers were so big that the used a helicopter to get them up to the roof.

I'd kill for some big windows :D

I've never worked anywhere without ac, though. That might change my mind.

Chicken tikka masala, bhangan bharta, rice, and garlic nan. With water. From our local Indian restaurant. With my GF, who is in town.

I've been thinking about this topic today because the weather is spectacular but the afternoon sun does have a tendency to heat my office to the point of being uncomfortable. We have a/c but it's a very old mill building and the a/c isn't great, plus one thermostat (out in the hall, not especially near my office) controls about 10 offices.

Solutions:
1. open my window (currently in effect)
2. wear shorts (no problem, generally, as long as I'm not around clients)
3. wear shorts and birkenstocks (ditto)
4. work at home where the a/c is much better and under my direct control

A pretty gross burger and a diet coke.

I work in the basement of a hotel. There are no windows around me... sich sucks considering the hotel is stuck right on the side of a mountain... a rocky mountain. But to deal with the heat, I've been known to jam a coat hanger into the ac vent and pull it open a little more. That seems to help.. but for all i know it could be 100 degrees or snowing outside right now.

No lunch yet...half the office is on vaction, so I'm covering many jobs this week. I'm very hungry...damnit.

But NOT swealtering in the office, but when I have to hit the warehouse, I sweat and complain.

Gazpacho and grilled sole.

It has been HOT in Madrid - between 94 and 101 degrees Fahrenheit for the last couple of weeks, though it has finally cooled off for a couple of days.

I'm self-employed so I set up client meetings early in the morning or in the late afternoon (typical office hours in Spain are 09:00 to 14:00, and then 16:30 to 19:00 or later. In the Summer, the work hours change to one lunchless continuous work day, from 8:00 until 14:30).

A light lunch, air conditioning and a 45-60 minute siesta is the ticket. We don't usually have dinner until 22:00, as it's so hot outside. People are still strolling along the main streets of Madrid right now at midnight.

I do love living here :)

Grilled shrimp, saffron rice with dried sour cherries, and greek salad.

I spend half my day inside and half outside. Unfortunately for me, Oregon's Willamette Valley is awash with rye grass pollen at the moment.

Atchooo!!!

Okay, when I DID get lunch, it was a BBQ Beef sandwich from the local BBQ joint. Mmmmmmmm....

We simply must demand pictures, Sandy. I can no longer rely on my imagination.

As for being lucky, I wasn't! It was skill that earned me my position as Manager of John Reardon's band, the Flaccid Old Gits (U.S. Division). I am extremely well paid although much of the money must go to bribes. And frankly, there's very little work to do - none, in fact - so I am free to go home and go back to sleep whenever I want.

John, I've told you a thousand times, 'Knackered' is the right word.

We may be old, but do occasionally get perky. :)

Ham Sandwich, granola bar, and a bottle of Gatorade.

I'm a supervisor at an automotive factory that makes pistons for Honda (we are Honda owned). We manufacture everything from raw ingot that is melted down and are die casted. Back in our foundry area, it can reach up to 130 degrees F and we do have chillers for the operators to keep them cool, but you need to be right on them to feel it. So all of you cushy office type people can come work for me and then you'll stop complaining about it when your office gets to hot to work in and you go home early. ;)

Chicken salad sandwich and packet of cheddar McCoys.

I used to work underground in a stone mine - you may know it JR - Copenacre, Wilts - bit like jrm in the hotel basement, you'd go down in the lift (elevator) in the dark, come up in the dark. It could snow and you wouldn't know. All the folks who'd been working there more than a couple of years looked permanently grey.

It's a bit different to the original subject, but we used to work out escape drills to call each other to the surface on fake errands. You know, urgent visit to personnel, car parked in wrong place, granny has delivered your packed lunch and she's too infirm to use lift, that sort of thing.
Don't know if it will work in the bewindowed office, but always worth considering getting a mate to fake a call to your boss requesting you be sent immediately somewhere else. Like Hooters or somewhere.

-JohnOh... Well, John... I know I know... But as I said, I donīt have a digital camera myself... Iīll see to it these days, okay ?

And about that skill thing... I would have thought John Reardon had hired you to get you away from the trashcans in the streets... :p

Huh ??? I thought Bones was dead ?
(Sorry)

Hmmmm. Those fake calls wonīt help much if youīre boss has gone home already.... And besides, I doubt very VERY much that he even knows who the Hooters are...
