My eldest daughter (14) wants to see the kickoff concert of the US Yes tour in Seattle in April. I've seen them 5 times before over the years and as you might suspect, am a bit of a fan, so I was happy to oblige.
Any Yes fans here?

BTW, my daughter can play most of "Mood for a Day" and I can't wait to see her eyes light up when Steve Howe does his thing. We made sure to get seats on his side of the arena!

I saw GTR play at a relatively small venue back in...oh, 1986 or 87, I can't remember which any more, but I never got to see Yes. One of my favorite concert videos (until I lost it) was that mid- to late-80s Yes tour with Trevor Rabin on guitar - that 90125 album still gets regular rotation at my house.
Wonder where else they'll be playing...

As much as I like Steve Howe, 90125 is a very special album (or whatever you call those now) to me. It's one of my all time top 10! I'm still not sure I understand why, but that was such a revelation when I heard it back in what? 1980, 1981?
I saw Yes on the the Big Generator tour, Union tour (with Rabin and Howe etc...). I also saw Anderson, Wakeman, Bruford, Howe - with Tony Levin, that was really awesome. I got Steve Howe's autograph after that show.
So yes, I'm a Yes fan!
By the way, it's cool that a 14 year old guitarist (female to boot!) is into Yes as well. Definitely on the right path!

Yeah, it kinds of makes me well up with emotion when she rocks out to 'Siberian Khatru'! Some might consider this a form of child abuse! :D
I saw Trevor Rabin with Yes twice, on the '90125' and 'Big Generator' tours. He was amazing. But the Anderson, Howe, Squire, White, Wakeman lineup is my favorite and that's who is touring this time so we are very excited.

One of my daughters rocking out to Siberian Kathru... yeah, that would be a highlight! :) But they're only 3 and 8 so there's still hope :)
By the way, we just got my oldest (8 years old) signed up for piano lessons. That's going to be pretty cool.

It really is great joy to share music with them as you must know, Dan. My other daughter (12) plays the bass. I discovered that encouraging them to wait until they were a little older for better motor/muscle control was the key to success, as they both tried to start playing a little sooner than they could do well with it and that caused some frustration. They still go in spurts, playing and leaving it alone for periods of time. They always have permission to quit if they want, but they have always come back to playing...
Cool daughter! I haven't seen Yes since I saw them at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in 197x (I think 1973). I did meet Howe at a Martin Taylor gig a few years back - a real gent.
Randy, I hope my girls will pick up music like yours have! My youngest (almost two) lights up when I pull a guitar out. She knows how to hold a pick, and she's big enough now that I can hold my strat on her legs and she can reach over the body and strum away.
I'm a fan of Yes (all versions as well). I permantly borrowed "Close To The Edge" and "Fragile" from my parents record collection in '81 at the age of 11. I used to put CTTE on my turntable, cut out the lights and just imagine that I was in Roger Dean's vision of that musical world. Those were the days man. Now I listen to it on the way to and from work. It's still powerful, but I miss just laying still and really listening to everything.
90125 is very special to me as well, I think because that was MY Yes album, for MY generation. I remember calling my dad into my room so he could hear "Changes", "Leave It", and "Hearts" (which has great guitar work on it, just a perfect song with a bunch of perfect solos). Big Generator was a great disc as well. In college we would drop that disc in and just crank the stereo as loud as we could. Tons of tones on that album.
Back in '88-9, I bought a Westone mostly because I loved Trevor's tones. I couldn't afford a '60's Strat (still can't!), but Westones were affordable and Trevor had a deal with them. In fact, the store I bought mine from had a Trevor Rabin signed Westone for sale soon after I bought mine. I thought about trading in, but that's as far as it went.
Chiba, I remember from a post a while back that you had GTR loaded on your iPod, right? I loved that album, although I remember the mix not being so good to my ears. Steve's work in Asia is also fantastic. His work always floors me. Classy tones for sure.
