Is anyone using it? Or at least got to try it?
Comments, reviews, recommendations?

All valid questions I'm trying to answer as well! :)

It's a USB device with amp models/effects etc... and even drum loops.
Also, it has an XLR mic input with preamp. Kind of a US122/Guitar port all-in-one.

I thought it was just a USB interface at first then I later read that it had FX and drum loops, looks pretty cool to me :dude:.

I just wish somebody would tell whether it works well or not! :)

Also, I'm pretty sure you can use it standalone as a practice amp, while it's not connected to the computer. Bonus!

Thanks, Ainsley. There are some wierd reviews on there, but overall, it seems to do what I expect it to do!

Cool, thanks! Do you have an updated review for me?

I have one.

I just emailed this to Dan, but will share:

I had a Adrenalin II and dug it; but it was no fun to try and sync up to record the cool filter stuff I dug it for.

The Black Box is simpler and not as deep, but it is MUCH more user friendly. Decent amp tones (more high gain than clean); good drums and the synch stuff is the best. Now you can dial in stuff very fast and recording is a breeze with USB.

You can indeed use it as a headphone amp.

I really like it. Sitting next to me on the desk right now as I type this.

Is it actually a real drum machine, or are there just a few preset patterns that you can fiddle with?

There are like 100 patterns, but they are presets. Lots of variations; excellent for practicing though. They sound really good, not like most canned drums.

FWIW, I bought two brand new w/ warranty and all- one was $250 the other was $199 on EBAY (just a few days ago)

EDIT: Looks like the deal is now slightly sweeter.....

How do the amp sims compare to the POD (v2.0)?

How do the amp sims compare to the POD (v2.0)?Well from what I read and heard, there are fewer models on the Black Box, and it shoots for the higher gain stuff. I think there are only 2 clean-ish models.

So I think it falls more into the "recording/rehearsal" category than the "heavy duty amp modeler" one.

Agreed completely. And I own the thing.
