I've been hearing and reading that when you setup up trem equiped guitar correctly, you're supposed to zero out the tension of the springs, strings, trem, etc. to get the best resonation and string tension. Is there a certain way you're supposed to setup a stoptail equiped guitar to get the same results?

Thanks!

On a PRS Trem your basically trying to get the trem to float parallel to the body, so if you were to go from 9's to 10's on a trem model (for ex.) you would see the trem pulling up from the back of it from the heavier string tension. You would need to adjust the trem claw screws in to get the bridge floating parallel again, and each time re-tune and so forth until everything is equal. On the stoptail none of this is involved, though if changing string guages or just setting up, you'll be dealing with the height (or action) adjusting screws (the two large ones) and the two intonation set screws on the bottom (allen screws). Remember to slacken the strings before adjusting anything down there! It's my opinion that string tension will affect the neck (truss rod adjustment) on a stoptail guitar more-so than a trem equipped guitar where the springs are taking up some of that tension. I dunno, but hope this answered your question:).
