I'd gauge my playing skill to be "beginner to intermediate". I bumped into the below URL tonight and wonder what you guys think about it. Aside from the sort of infomercialish feel it has, do you think it's worth $49?

I thnk some of the learning web sites can help...but in an adjunct fashion. IMHO nothing beats a one-on-one in person experience with a good teacher.
and BTW...there's plenty of free guitar lessons on the web.

The ear training game thingy sounds cool, but I agree a teacher is a better route. If you can do even a few personal guitar lessons I think that will help you out better overall. If you can't, or don't want to, do lessons, I'd advise spending the $50 on a good instruction book and a chord/scale book.
I've never had a formal lesson, but asking questions of those who are wise to the way of the guitar was the best thing for me. Plus a teacher and/or friend can give you new challenges and keep you motivated to take the steps to improve.

I've been taking lessons on and off for a while from two different people, and I have learned a lot through that route, but I thought I might try something different if only for variety's sake.

Id like to suggest a few sites that Ive learned about in my travels. Everything from the basic scale patterns to advanced theory to every conceivable tab.

I have used a free tab software called power tab. It allows you to download a tab and play it on the computer as well as create your own. I have used this software and it is pretty cool and it's free. I have even posted some tab exercizes of my own on my website. Anyway here is the link:

There are links to many other sites that post tabs in this format.

This one site in particular has a lesson section.

Let me know if this helps...
