Seriously tho', it's great to have BAM back... I was beginning to feel a bit like an unwanted puppy over the last week or so. Thanks for the great job in getting things back up and running guys.

If thats the case the UK Posse will be passing your house on Saturday 13 March. Can we pop in for a cup of tea? :D Only kidding - what are the distances involved?

Sure, please do. You're very welcome (but only if you bring some Hobnobs) :D
.. (oh and some malteezers too) :p
Hobnobs, Maltesers? You can do better than that. Seriously let us know if you want anything bringing.

Cool see hear from yu again here Jo . Are you putting that Dobson 6"" scope to good use lately?Ahem.... it's 8" :D ... actually no, it's been too cold out and I'm a fair weather astronomer, however the nights have been nice and clear and I have been threatening to drag the scope out and see if I can get some decent shots of saturn.

I'm not even going to touch that one, Jo, but it is all in the aperture, right...?My ETX is great for Saturn, Jupiter, Mars during last September, and playing neighborhood watch, er , I mean birdwatching, but I feel GAS for deep space viewing, and am even starting to feel that I have enough guitar to justify splurging on astronomy again.
Me da miedo
I've got an ETX-90 (90mm) too, and while I love the tracking feature (when I can get it to track reasonably well), the image just doesn't compare to the what I get with the 8" - I just wished I could track with the dob. :(
Did you ever see my crappy pic of Mars?

You can just make out the shading of the craters and the polar ice cap.
And here's one I got of Jupiter, I'm yet to try for Saturn.

Nice shots, Jo! The ETX is great for what it does, and for sheer transportability, but I agree it gets limited quickly. I bought the Autostar Suite kit with the imaging unit, but back surgery has prevented my putting it through the paces. I hope the eventual results can hold a candle to the pics you took. Have fun with Saturn...

Too bad I couldn't get up to Maryland before you arrive. I've been trying to get a couple of boxes of Twinkies over to Gary Natrass for a while, but it'll cost close to $100 to ship them overseas!!
