So I've been wanting a tele
I want something with P-90's and I have a love affair with hollowbodies

And just like BAM, this is new from Fender for 2004 -

Scale length: 25.5"
Abalone dot position inlays
Hardware: smoked chrome

Pickups: Seymour Duncan: SP90-1NRWRP vintage P90 (neck), SP-90 3B Custom
P90 (bridge)

Anyone know anything about them? I presume they are made in Japan? (the new tele aerodynes are Japanese) or could be MIM. They're selling for $600

Any thoughts?

I was wondering about the country of manufacturer as well, this one as well as the other new seymour duncan loaded fender guitars (for instance swampash strat with birdseye maple neck + american standard hardware) have a shop costprice which is roughly halve of the retail you quoted (in Europe anyway, I have seen the list) and I cannot imagine that Fender Japan could build a guitar with these specs at such a low price (but nevertheless I did order the strat, should be here after Frankfurt Messe :D )

yeah, I reckon that would be a cool guitar. I've been wavering on the "strat-o-sonic" (the P-90, 24 3/4 mahhogany strat), but this looks like a lot of fun

You should look into making your own. Check out Warmoth. They make some really good looking thin line bodies.

Checked out pricing on one of the new Aerodyne tele models yesterday.

In the $500 range delivered. P90 in the neck, standard tele bridge/pup. That sounds like it could be a real sweet guitar.

And if its made in Japan rather than Korea that speaks well for quality issues.
Is that made in Japan info correct?

But its not a hollow body I don't believe....
