View Full Version : fingering double stop bends

I have been trying to figure out the fingering for a double stop bend. The bend is fretted on the second and third string, 7th fret. The tab calls for a 1/2 step bend on the second string and a full 1 step bend on the third. Any fingering / technique suggestions??

I would use two fingers (middle/ring or ring/pinky) to allow for both strings to be bent accordingly.

But I think it probably works well enough to use a single fnger, since the same amount of bend "distance" will affect the third string's pitch more than the second (due to different string gauges). It probably won't be dead on, but close ebnough for rock n' roll!

Thanks Dan,

You got right to the heart of my problem. Using two fingers to try to get the exact amount of bend on each string is very ackward. One finger is good enough for rock and roll!!!

Thanks again

For that bend, I generally use the ring and middle fingers.

But so true, Dan. Excellent point: "But I think it probably works well enough to use a single fnger, since the same amount of bend "distance" will affect the third string's pitch more than the second (due to different string gauges)."

Good deal.

I think it is worth practicing the two fingered version. It's awkward, but the result is somewhat different than the one finger version in that everything resolves onto pitch at the top.

Plus it builds hand strength.
