My son's band, Naked Persuasion, has some new songs uploaded to Sound Click. Asking for honest opinions here. My son (lead guitar player, played all of the guitar parts) and his band mates are all high school seniors. Here is the address: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/nakedpersuasionmusic.htm

Thanks for the listen,

Jim

Reminds me a lot of early Incubus, which is a good thing. They're very tight for being so young. Sounds like they've got quite a bit of potential as long as they keep practicing and refining their skills.

I would never have guessed in a hundred years that they're a high school band were you not to have told me. I think they're one of the best high school bands I've ever heard in my life, to tell you the truth. I think your son has HUGE potential.

I love the groove, love the energy, and I love the way they attack their instruments with passion. Further, i think they sound like a BAND instead of a bunch of musicians who happen to be playing together.

"Crack" is a definite standout to me ... (one tip is to lose the artsy titles and go with something out of the song people can remember and ask for. "Bubba O'Reilly" (sp) would have never made it had the band doing it not already been established, and even at that, most people requested it and remembered it as "Teenage Wasteland."). In fact, I think I'm going to go listen to that song again now.

I think your son is on his way to becoming a world class guitarist, if he keeps it up. I like listening to him now, so I'm sure IF he keeps practicing (unlike me) that I'll love hearing where he's going in 5 years.

Count me in as a fan. I really like it and look forward to them posting more AS LONG AS they keep up with their current inventiveness and don't settle just to "get it done." There are a couple of musical phrases in the songs other than crack "where" I thought to myself "You guys really settled with that line, didn't you. You could feel it wasn't right but it was 'good enough' so you settled."

They have too much talent to "settle" instead of pushing the boundaries as they clearly have the skill to do. Now time to go back on their site and have some more "crack.":dude:

best,

sterling

Edit: okay, I get where they got crack for the song title. BUT they have to realize that people are going to call it "Groovin' on a Thursday Afternoon" whether they like it or not. There are ways to get around the average listener's tendencies, but after a while you realize that if you choose artsy creative titles that are harder to remember than a key phrase in the song, that you're just fighting a losing battle against a moving river. Been there, done that, learned the hard way.
