Hi Guys..
Here's my poser..I love my little Line 6 AM4 modeller, which sounds great through the "return" on my amp (ie straight into the power amp). However, I also want to use my Treble Booster, into the pre amp, as this too produces some very nice tones.. I cant use them all in line, as the AM4 sounds cr*p through the pre amp.

So, Can anyone see any reason why I couldn't use a Boss Line Splitter pedal, with one route going: Guitar>Treble Boost>Amp input.

and the other route going: Guitar>AM4>Effect return.

The only potential problem I can see, is if route 1 is active, does the fact that the "return" jack has something plugged in disable the amps own pre amp?

Any ideas much appreciated!

thanks

Nick

You don't know the 1/2 of it, you should try to read some of John's other posts.

John,re your earlier reply, any way you can think of to use my delay modeller with both these routes? or will I have to choose one for the delay to go in line?
cheers

Yes, plugging something into the FX Return will most likely disable the signal path from the preamp. But there is a solution...

Guitar > LS-2 input

LS-2 Send A > Treble Booster > amp input

LS-2 Send B > AM-4 input

Amp FX Send > LS-2 Return A

AM-4 output > LS-2 Return B

LS-2 Output > amp FX Return

Set LS-2 to "A - B", and there you go... you can balance the amp and AM-4 levels with the LS-2 level knobs too.

Boss LS-2... one of the most useful boxes on the planet! I must get another one, my bass player has mine so she can run her bass synth and overdrive pedals in parallel like that, so each doesn't affect the other.
Great reply John - thanks ... my scenario is similar ....in one set up I like to dissable the preamp as above and use a GP100 on soldano superlead setting - great singing lead and I like it for some things in preferance to the Boogie (mk3) lead tone. I like the clean tones for rythm (and lead) on the rythm 1 setting through the preamp though. It would be nice to kick a footswitch and achive a simple change over without popping or clicks. Ages ago I thought of having a double pole switch on a footswitch to disconnect the jack (effectively - from the circuit) and switch the routing back through the amps regular input to achive this. Would the line splitter used in a similar manner as you described be the better option do you think?
