View Full Version : Schizophrenic new tune
I must be losing my mind - this makes sense to me.
This is a pretty rough, unmixed demo without vocals or the final bass performance. There's a fade-out at the end but I cut it to reduce the size of the file.

Thanks for listening!

A pleasure as always Adam.
Very SOAD. I'm not a big fan of the screamy shouty vocal style but he doesn't do it all the time so that's OK:D . I would say though that when he does do the shouty parts that they could do with a little more bottom end on them to give them a little more presence.
Did I like it?
Too bloody right.:dude: :dude:

Thanks Rip! That's a good call on the vocals, too. I actually doubled them an octave lower and way back in the mix to add some girth, but apparently they still need some EQ love. I followed your advice on the other song I posted and brought the vocals back a bit - you were right, it sounded much better. :D
As always I really appreciate your unbiased view and constructive criticism!

:dude: Cool tune, dude!
When you scream like that, can you sing for the next week? Seriously... how do you do it without causing issue in the throat/vocal chords?
Peace,
Aldwyn

Nice Adam. Didn't like the shouting vocals, but that's probably down to my age. When the 'proper' singing comes in, it's great, quite catchy as well. :dude:
Would liked to have heard a version without the shouting.
Thanks guys!
Aldwyn - that ain't me singing, bro! That's our vocalist Gabe doing all the singing/screaming... He doesn't seem to have any problem shifting from one to the other at will. I know I'd be spitting blood if I tried to scream like him, let alone try to sing afterwords. He can even start a scream and back off into normal singing and be right in key. It's sort of scary... he's very soft-spoken and quiet when not performing.
JR - Glad you liked the song despite the adolescent rage bits of it. It's rare that a song of ours would contain so much of that, but Gabe is very particular about how certain things are portrayed, so to him it was completely necessary in this song. I prefer the clean vocals as well. :)

Uuumm Adam, I only have 60 more days aboard BGFT before I get to head home permanently. We'll prolly be making our way through Indy along the way, too. Will you be needing any bass trax in the future?
Very cool!! I agree, it kinda has a SOADish feel. And I LOVE the shouting vocals part! There's a guy on the boat who reminds me a lot of Gabriel. This guy looks totally redneck, but he's incredible on vocals.

Wow... I can't even do gritty blues without screwing my voice up for the rest of the evening.
Peace,
Aldwyn

well going against the grain here...i loved it, the vocals too. boo has been known to venture out to see the likes of lamb of god, slipknot, slayer ect. give us some more Adam :dude:
Hahaha... Hey Robin, right now I'm writing pretty busily for the band, and we do have a full-time bassist, but I KNOW I have a track around here that could use your groove. Let me know when you're in town (by email, my # has changed) and we'll get together and have dinner somewhere reasonable this time! (My cashflow could use some angioplasty at the moment). :D
Stellar - I had no idea! Be careful what you ask for. We have some stuff lying around that's a little more extreme, if that's what you're into. ;)
