I picked up a very lightly used Twintone that IS sweet. It even had a Weber Blue Dog in it and a Tuki cover. I won't hurt anyone's feelings by telling you the deal I got on it....:D

Anyway, I think it needs tubes. Looks like Ruby's in there but I'm not sure. Has anyone got any recommendations or opinions on what sounds good (or bad...) in this amp? I've got a box of preamp tubes from RCA 5751's to JJ's toTelefunken and Amperex 12A*7's, so I'm set there. But not much in the way of power tubes. What are you guys/gals using and what are the strengths/weaknesses of those selections?

Also, I haven't had it long enough to pull the chassis and take a look, but does it have a bias pot or do I need to get the soldering iron warm? Anybody have, or know where I can get a schematic for my new sweetie?

Thanks.

I've got all JJ's in mine right now. I got 'em from Bob at Eurotubes. I have some older Svetlanta EL34s (3 or 4 years old) That "I" believe sound a little better than the JJs.

I jusr re-tubed my Multitone with Ruby Tubes EL34B-STR. They seem to break up a little earlier and sweeter that the EHs I had before, but that's just to my ears. The Ruby Tubes are KOCH- branded and were the same "grading", though I had my tech re-set the bias anyway.

Cool, looks like I'm not the only one out here with a Koch Twintone :)

I bought mine new last year, and I like the stock tubes well along with the Koch/Jensen VG90 speaker. Older Twintones had Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, but that didn't seem to be a total success...

I like the stock Ruby el34's pretty well for allround purposes, the Twintone screams just enough to allow heavy riffing...
