Hey All!

This weekend my band went out to Joshua Tree to work on some stuff we're recording for a new demo. We're not using anything too fancy, we don't want to spend a ton for this

This weekend was to be our Strings recording time. A good friend of mine named Brook Cebula from MD, a great strings player (he teaches at Bender Music in Elkton if anybody's looking for lessons), flew in to do violin and viola, and cello would be me. We used a 002 into a PowerBook. Audio Technica 3035 into a PreSonus TUBEPre unit, to a DBX 266XL compressor into the 002.

I was really, really surprised with the AT 3035...we'd had mixed success using it for vocals in the past, but it sounded GREAT on the stringed instruments; it sounded particularly good on the viola and violin. The instruments were fairly nice, and the mic really captured the full ranges of the instruments well. The 3035 has a "creamy" quality to it.

On a side note: Everything came out really well...I"m so excited about these new demos. We're planning on having them done and mixed by the end of March, so I'll get them up when I have them

Anybody else ever used this mic?

Dan.

Dan, try the 3035 on an acoustic guitar, fantastic!! A lot of AT stuff, especially the 3035, is under-rated and extremely good value for money.
